International Study

Do you live outside of the United States? Do you or your child desire to go to school in the U.S.?

Lake Worth Christian School of Boynton Beach, Florida, now offers an International Student Education Program. The program is designed to offer an excellent education from a Christian worldview to students from outside the United States.  We are able to issue your eligible student an I-20 which will allow them to obtain an F-1 Visa and graduate from our High School.

We have been blessed to have had students from Korea, China, Lithuania, Gabon, The Netherlands Antilles and Sweden.

Goals:
One goal is to broaden the backgrounds and nationalities of our student body in order to decrease our homogeneity and increase the exposure of our current students to cultures different from their own. This can bring students to better understand of a global perspective, meet Christians from other countries, and raise awareness of their Christian calling to serve. By introducing international students into our school we can begin that process of understanding and provide a wonderful opportunity for both our students and international students to develop cross-cultural understanding.

Application Process for International Students

1.   Completed Application Form – on our website

2.   SLEP or TOEFL test scores verification document sent to Lake Worth Christian School.

3.   All original plus officially translated copies of transcripts and/or report cards sent to Lake Worth Christian School.

4.   When a student is accepted (receipt of letter of acceptance) the first year’s tuition is due. After the school receives the completed Enrollment Form and tuition then an 1-20 form will be issued and mailed.

7.   The 1-20 form must then be taken to the U.S. embassy in the student’s country to apply for an F-1 visa. This stage of the process can take up to 30 days to receive the visa so application plans must be timed to insure that the student arrives at least ten (10) days before the first day of school.

English Language Recommendations for International Students

In order for international students to do well academically in an English language studies environment they should be able to read, write, understand, and speak in English at an adequate level.

Students applying for middle school (6-8) or high school (9-12) should have a score of one of the  following:

40 or above on the SLEP Test

470 or above on the TOEFL Written test

150 or above on the TOEFL Computer based test

47 or above on the TOEFL Internet based test

If a student's primary goal is to come to America to learn the language and is not too concerned

about academic progress until after English language proficiency is gained then the above scores

could be adjusted.
